BRITISH, Anglo-Saxon. Kings of All England. Cnut, 1016-1035. Penny (Silver, 18 mm, 1.16 g, 12 h), a contemporary imitation of a short cross penny, uncertain mint. ✠ CNL - TREC:(sic!) Diademed and draped bust of Cnut to left, holding scepter in his right hand. Rev. ✠ REFEN ON EOFE: Short voided cross with circle in center. Cf. SCBC 1159 (for prototype). Beautifully toned. Some areas of weakness and slightly bent, otherwise, very fine.
